Athlete of the Month: March

Abbey Boncela, Staff Writer

Our Kearns High Athlete of the Month is Tarrick Morris. Tarrick is a senior on the baseball team. Tarrick has played baseball for 13 years and says that he enjoys playing it a lot. “It is my favorite sport because it makes me happy and it helps me focus,” said Tarrick. He has also been known to play football as a linebacker. When he plays baseball, he is the catcher. He enjoys playing baseball because of the practices and “working up to it.” The mental aspect is also a huge part of the game.
“Baseball is a huge part of my life because I have been doing it for many years.” Tarrick wasn’t the only person in his family to play baseball; his dad played for a little bit, and was an influence in Tarrick’s playing. “I look up to my dad because he is kind of like my coach.” Tarrick said that the best thing that has happened to him in baseball would be playing in the Little League World Series. Although baseball has been a great part of Tarrick’s life, it has had some downfalls as well, such as making him stressed. Even though baseball has brought on trials for him, he says that it has, overall, been good for him because it teaches him to focus and work harder. “It also shows if you lose or get brought down, you can pick yourself right back up.”
