Voting Through Mail, 2020 Election
October 12, 2020
By far, in the United States, the most relevant news this year has been about COVID-19 and the upcoming 2020 election. With that being the most prominent of this year comes the issue of how to vote and remain safe. There are two different ways to vote, by mail or in person. Both are offered this year for the November election. Some people prefer to do it in person the days before or the day of elections. Due to COVID-19, some people prefer to not wait in a long line possibly exposing themselves to the virus. With the increase of mail voting comes the concern of whether the post office has plans to help make this election successful through the mailing process.
The U.S. Post Office states on their official website the following about the upcoming ballots: “The American public can rely on the United States Postal Service to fulfill our role in the electoral process. We provide a secure, efficient and effective way for citizens to participate when policymakers decide to use mail as part of their elections. We have a robust and tested process for proper handling and timely delivery of Election Mail.”
Who are the candidates and what are their policies? The candidates for this election are current president Donald J. Trump and former vice president Joe Biden. Donald Trump is the Republican candidate with the commonly known slogan, “Keep America Great.” Joe Biden is the opposing Democratic candidate with a slogan “Our Best Days Still Lie Ahead.” To register to vote you can go to either of the candidates websites.
