As the new school year has begun, Kearns High School didn’t just gain new students but teachers as well. One of the teachers at Kearns is Luz Moronta and she teaches different levels of Spanish classes which include Spanish one, Spanish two, and Spanish AP. She’s been teaching for 10 years.
As the school year has started Moronta has been surrounded by a new culture since she has been through different schools and different age groups throughout her career from starting to elementary to middle school to now high school. When asked the reason for her to come to teach at Kearns High School she stated in an interview with the Cougar Claw, “What made me teach at Kearns High was because it was my goal as a teacher to teach teenagers since I started getting my education degree, and Kearns gave me that opportunity.”
Because this is something that she has been looking forward to, she was also asked about her favorite thing about teaching at Kearns so far? She answered, “My favorite thing has been the students since they get along, make me laugh and participate for the majority.” Due to her teaching these different grades she was asked what made the transition easier. She stated, “It’s been pretty easy due to my experience from Granite Park Junior High, and it’s helped me with working with highschoolers.” From that experience she was also asked if it had gone the way she
