Did you know that the first movies didn’t have color or sound? It’s true! They’d hire a piano player, organist, or a small group of musicians to present an atmosphere for the film that was being shown! But now there are tons of movies with all different kinds of music, dialogue, and actors. From live action to animation. And with the new year, comes new movies! So The Cougar Claw conducted a survey and here are the Top Five Movies that the Cougars are most excited about from slightly excited, to very excited!
In fifth place we have Kung Fu Panda 4! “After Po is tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of The Valley Of Peace, he needs to find and train a new Dragon Warrior, while a wicked sorceress plans to resummon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm,” IMDb. With returning voices such as the amazing Jack Black as Po, and new voices, such as Oscar award winners Viola Davis as the Shapeshifter Chameleon, and Ke Huy Quan as Han, this is sure to be quite an adventure! This movie has been long awaited since the confirmation in August of 2022. Mike Mitchel, who has directed The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Trolls, and Shrek Forever After, will also be directing this film. Cougars are excited to see where this journey takes this klutz of a panda warrior.
We’re joined by our favorite Universal Supervillain Gru for Cougar’s number four! Despicable Me 4 where we join Supervillain Gru and his family with… and new addition?! You heard that right, Cougars! Gru and Lucy have a little boy. And if figuring out how to be parents of a baby wasn’t hard enough for the two of them, a supervillain escapes from jail and they want revenge on Gru. That poor family can’t seem to catch a break as they are forced into hiding. Will Gru be able to pull off trying to continue to be such an amazing super villain while trying to be the family man? Guess we’ll all have to find out in July as it comes out in theaters!
Another one to look forward to in July is our Cougars third place movie, Deadpool 3! Ryan Reynolds will be returning as our favorite Anti-Hero Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, and he’s not the only one returning to the stage. Hugh Jackman is making his MCU debut as Wolverine. We’ve been promised by Reese and Wernick that Deadpool three wouldn’t be “Disney-fied”, and that, “They’re gonna let Deadpool be Deadpool.” That is quite a relief! Disney is great, for the most part, but it has censored and canceled things that make us scratch our heads. We can’t see what crazy things Deadpool gets himself into this time!
Still hearing those little voices in your head? Riley sure is! Pixar is at it again as it brings Inside Out 2 into reality after 9 years. In addition to our old favorites, four new emotions take the stage as Riley turns 13 and hits the puberty years. In the trailer, it shows Anxiety, who is voiced by Maya Hawke, and the other three emotions, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy. For those of you who aren’t familiar with names, Maya Hawke plays Robin in Stranger Things. For the other three new emotions, the voices remain unknown.
And now for the Cougars number one that almost everyone seems excited about, Spiderman: Beyond The Spider-Verse. This threequel is one that a lot of people are looking forward to! For this one, The Cougar Claw asked Steven Ayers, one of the biggest Spiderman fans, and Violet Black, who is the biggest Marvel fan that we know about their opinions, and this is what they said about the movie. First, we asked if it was a surprise that Spiderman: Beyond The Spider-Verse was the top movie. “No, everyone knows Marvel, and it’s one of the only ones [Marvel movies] that’s coming out this year,” Steven Ayers (10).
However, some Marvel fans aren’t as excited about this movie as we thought. When asked if she’s excited about this movie, Violet Black (10) said, “No. It has potential, but I don’t think you should get your hopes up for it. It could be good but I don’t know.” She went on to say that Marvel has gone downhill ever since Stanly died. So we’ll just have to see if it lives up to its prequels!
We’re all looking forward to the beautiful soundtrack and wonderful colors that these movies are going to bring to the table! If you want to learn more about any of these movies, either go to IMDb or Screenrant. You can also see any of these movies in theaters when they come out! Happy 2024 Cougars!
