With the 2024 school year coming to an end, everyone feels different about school ending. The end of the year can prove to be an incredibly stressful and overwhelming time for most students, but for others it may be really fun and less stressful. The Cougar Claw passed out a survey to ask students from grades 10 to 12 to prove these feelings true.
Surveys were passed out to sophomores, juniors and seniors for a general statistic on how stressful the end of the school year is for students. Through the surveys, The Cougar Claw discovered that the majority of students in Kearns High School believe that deadlines are stricter, and the end of the year is more stressful than not, and they have generally more work than usual.
Sophomore year, according to the percentage of students who received the survey, is more stressful than not. “The end of the year is way more stressful, teachers get very strict and give assignments daily, and you’re more likely to fail. Motivation also runs out quicker,” An anonymous sophomore student said in response to the survey. Juniors who received the survey had the most responses on the end of the year being stressful and overwhelming with the end of year testing and excessive work.
On the contrary to the end of the year being more stressful, The Cougar Claw received several responses from students, mostly seniors, claiming the end of the year is less stressful and more exciting. Seniors have a higher percentage of students who are excited for school to end and are less intimidated by their new beginning.
School is different for every individual and every grade, some have more to worry about than others. With the year coming to an end, most deadlines are stricter, some are easier, and end of year testing can prove to be overwhelming. The year is coming to an end and summer is on its way!
