On March 26th, 2024, here at Kearns high most of our juniors took the ACTs. ACT stands for American college testing.
One of the admins for the ACTs at Kearns High Wilfredo Falcon stated that “The test is a college entrance exam that should provide an indicator as to how prepared a student is for college level work.” Why do students take the ACTs? Willfredo Falcon says that “Students take the ACT because most colleges require it as part of the application process. ACT scores are part of the acceptance process along with grades, overall GPA and other factors.” According to WIllfredo Falcon “The test went well this year, with great organization and had over 450 juniors taken the exam?
From a student’s perspective how did the ACTs go? In an interview with Amy Alvarado a Junior at Kearns high school she states that there were very strict rules such as access to devices and seating arrangements to basic rules. Amy also says that there were 4 different tests: math, reading, English and science. She states they had one 15-minute break after half the tests were done, then her classroom finished around 12 and was excused and allowed to go home.”
