Many people talk about how school can be stressful for students. However, what about the teachers? How can school be stressful for teachers? School can be very stressful no matter the age or type of school. Preschool, elementary school, high school , and college can all be stressful to students. However, teachers can be stressed out as well.
There can be a wide variety of things that can stress a teacher. Whether it’d be the students or the actual work. Things like grading, making lessons, or the students could cause stress for a teacher. “The number of students could be stressful.” says Derek Stanley, a history teacher at Kearns High School. He also says, “I love my job, but sometimes I wish there were days off of grading or less student work to grade.”
Teaching is a great career to pursue. It may not pay that well or have great hours but many teachers love their job. Despite the stress it may cause them, they continue to love their job. Most teachers wouldn’t want a different career for the world. Ryne Steinacker speaks up about if being a teacher is worth the stress, “I believe so. It just depends on what people are willing to do.”
There are lots of ways one could manage their stress. Managing stress is very important when it comes to stressful situations. Whether it be listening to music, doing breathing exercises, or watching a movie, managing stress can come in different forms for all people. “Breathing exercises. I am pretty religious so I also do prayers and scripture readings,” Steinacker informs of the ways he manages his stress. Stress is something that can easily be managed and should be managed.
Teachers have stress as their students do. Grading, dealing with work, and dealing with kids are some examples of what could be stressful for them. Students and teachers both have something alike; they both have stress. Just think, if a student is stressed, what about their teachers?
