According to abc4.com “Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease meaning it can spread to animals. Historically people were infected by animals such as rodents and monkeys with the disease.” They declared the monkey pox as a global health emergency in July of 2022 and it was reported in different countries which are Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, Gabon, Liberia and South Africa. The Monkeypox virus began in Denmark then it spread around the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As for reasons how the Monkeypox spread is unknown, but scientists suspect it came from African rodents and other primates that caused this to spread.
The Cougar Claw interviewed Misty Morrow, a health teacher at Kearns High School. She stated that “Monkeypox is a viral disease that spreads through animals and humans.” She also stated that the Monkeypox spreads from “respiratory wise, saliva, coughing and touching infected objects.”
