As this school year progresses, many new fashion trends have arrived. This includes certain hairstyles, clothing brands, and even backpacks. Since teenagers and young adults are the main trendsetters for this day and age, the Cougar Claw has chosen three students from Kearns High School to share their input on trends.

First, Conner Colledge, a senior interested in football and mechanics, has seen a new wave of baggy clothing with the students. “I see a lot of baggy clothes like Empire, JNCO,” these are some popular brands that he sees often at school. Many students at the school are taking interest in baggy t-shirts, paired with baggy pants. Students seem to prefer this particular clothing. “It seems to be more baggy…at least with the boys.” Conner was also asked what he thinks the best clothing trend at Kearns is. This included Dickies and Empire specifically. “Most worn is probably Dickies, or maybe Empire.” Conner was also asked about his least favorite clothing trend, which was sagging. Sagging is wearing your pants below the hips.

Jayda Nish, a senior cheerleader interested in sports, thinks a new hair trend for girls is wearing your hair down, and growing it out. She’s seen many Edgar haircuts on the boys as well. Edgar haircuts are thin, straight hairlines, with the rest of the hair in the back, they resemble a mullet. “I see a lot of Edgars.” Jayda was asked about a popular hair trend in Utah, “Utah Curls.” Utah Curls is straightening the ends of your hair along with the ends. Then, you curl your hair in the middle. It wasn’t a favorite of hers, but she doesn’t completely mind them. “Don’t get why you would curl and then straighten the ends.” Jayda does not like buzz cuts, and she claimed that those are her least favorite ones to see. “I hate buzzcuts!”

Stephanie Ponce, a senior cheerleader, was asked what she thought about the seniors wearing kid’s backpacks to school. This trend is a few years old, and it celebrates the end of senior’s school careers. They are now becoming adults, and saying goodbye to childhood. The most popular backpacks at Kearns are Bluey and Paw Patrol for boys, and Princess or Hello Kitty for the girls. When asked about her opinion on the backpacks, she said that she thinks it’s cute. “I honestly think it’s a really cute way to wear them!”

These trends can be used by any grade, and people can use these students’ answers to keep up with the latest style!
