Does your age affect your morning routine? Well Cougar Claw interviewed some of our seniors and freshmen in Kearns high school. To see if morning routines change over time. First up is one of our seniors from Kearns high school, Dan Adams. He said that his routine takes around 30 minutes and depends if he has A-day or B-day of class. He doesn’t have a first period on B-days and that affects the time that he wakes up. He wakes up around 8:00 am on B-day and if it’s A-day 6:30 am. On a normal B-day he wakes up, goes to the bathroom, takes a shower, and does his skincare routine. When he is done with all the basics, he feeds his cat, takes his pills and ends up leaving the house around 8:30 am. On A-days he wakes up around 6:30 and leaves the house around 6:45 but he still does the other things in his routine on B-day just moves a bit faster. When asked if he would like to change anything about his routine he responded that he would like to sleep in more and should probably have some breakfast. Speaking of pets, he says that when going to the bathroom to shower his cat follows him into the bathroom, and when the water gets turned on his cat “gets scared and hides behind the toilet.”
So if pets can affect routines, what about family? Dan says “No, because my little brother leaves before I wake up and my older brother is in college.” He said that the most common thing he does in his morning routine is probably brushing teeth, showering, and going to the bathroom.
Then the final question, what was your morning routine when you were in middle school? Dan said “So when I was in middle school. I got there very early, around 6:00 am and school didn’t start until 7:45. I used to sleep on the front lawn or in the hallway. One time the janitor woke me up to see if I was breathing.”
Next a freshman was asked the same questions. Isabel Otteson, and her routine takes around an hour to complete. She starts her day by her dad waking her up by yelling around 6:00 am and about 30 min later she finally gets out of bed. Then she goes to the bathroom, gets dressed, gets her backpack ready, gets her shoes on, has breakfast, and finally she waits for her friend so they can go to school together. When asked if she would like to change anything about her routine. Isabel says “wake up easier cause 30 minutes of the hour is just me laying in bed and trying to wake up and maybe have a better breakfast or quick breakfast so it won’t take that much time.” When asked if her dog affected her routine, she responded with yes, because she brakes and wakes her up sometimes. Does your family affect your routine too? Isabel said “ I have a twin brother and for a start my dad wakes up and then my brother is always moving my stuff and crap so I can get my stuff ready. Also I ask what is something common in your routine. She said we’ll get dressed in the morning. What is something unique about your routine? Isabel says that i normally blast music in my room whatever i get dressed. Then the final question was how was your routine in middle school. Isabel said that i wake up quick and get dressed and go to the gym with my dad at 5:00 or when it opens and then come back and go ready for school the same way i basically do now. So does age really affect the morning routine. Yes because it depends what age range you are and what time your schools start like elementary, middle school, high school. they all wake up at different times.
