KEARNS  High School brought back a beloved tradition by hosting the Taste of Kearns for the first time in years. After years of absence, the Taste of Kearns returned in September 2025, bringing together the community for food, performances, and Celebration the Taste of Kearns was revived by Kearns High School students in 2025 to serve as a community celebration, bringing residents, local businesses, and student groups together. The event’s purpose is to foster community engagement and showcase the people and local enterprises that contribute to the town of Kearns.  After being absent for some time, it was revived in September 2025 by the Kearns High School student body officers. 

   KEARNS HIGH SCHOOL they haven’t done the taste of Kearns in years I interviewed Xavier peter (12)  asking him “why they are bringing it back” this is what he had to say.  “I am bringing it back because I saw a want and a need for the community.”  Xavier peter (12) replied  “Student government in the past has pretty much been an art and service club. Kearns high has only ever been Kearns high. Kearns is a beautiful and diverse place, and I believe it needs to be celebrated and recognized for what it is worth. I did it because I wanted to serve the community and saw this as a way to do so.” 

   SINCE they haven’t done the taste of Kearns for an unspecified period of time there will be changes from the last time they did it. Once again I asked ” What are you guys doing this time that is different from last time” this is what he said “We did it outside, in the past it has been inside. There were also hamburgers, and a lot more businesses, clubs, and performing arts groups. This year was a wonderful event because we didn’t have the credibility or sponsors due to how long it has been going. In other words we had to start from scratch so it was smaller. “

   THEN there is the progress of planning and setting up the taste of Kearns. Xavier Peter replied saying  he started planning the taste of Kearns this end of may to September, so 5 months. Then there are the people who helped set the taste of Kearns. “Principal Stirland and I planned everything, we had a lot of  help setting up the tables, chairs, getting barricades up, bathrooms unlocked, etc. So planning it was me and Stirland, for the entire event to work all the businesses, performing arts groups, and everything had to show up. And we had a lot of help with the physical set up. So planning the event was done by 2 people, but hundreds of people contributed to its success, 2000+ people came, and it would have been successful without every single person who came.“  he said.

   AT the end there is the question everyone is asking: will Kearns high do the taste of Kearns again next year? 

“We are working to make it a committee next year rather than 2 people. The student government will likely be involved, but the student body president will no longer be doing a bulk of it “ he said. So maybe not any time this year they will announce doing it again next year in 2026.
