In the Heights Success

Cosette Freeman

Many students brought their friends and family to come see the Kearns High production of In the Heights on November 18th, 19th, and 20th at the school. In fact, over 2,000 people attended the musical throughout those three days, according to the theatre teacher, Mrs. Faulk. For those who have not seen it, In the Heights is about New York City dealing with the changes of Washington Heights and pressures of their daily city lives through the expression of music and dance. Mrs. Faulk told the Cougar Claw that it took over a month to set the stage for this production, and it turned out absolutely fantastic! And when it comes to costumes, the participants in the musical actually came up with the clothing themselves. The costumes were New York, real people inspired. They had to wear what any real people in New York would, with very bright and vibrant colors to create the urban feeling. When Mrs. Faulk was asked how she feels the musical turned out, she said, “I think it turned out great. Not a lot of schools have the talent and diversity that we do. We have very excellent and ambitious actors.” Congratulations to those who put so much hard work into this well-done production. That includes stage crew, the actors, the teachers, and anyone else who put their time and effort into the musical. Stage Crew and Theatre really do put emphasis on just how talented Kearns High School is.
