#SETTLEITSMASH
May 4, 2016
On Thursday Feb 18, 2016 the Key Club held a fundraiser in room 221 by holding a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tournament, which is a popular game within our school community. The tournament entry fee was only $5 dollars, which is a very convenient and affordable price! Joshua Geltz (an intermediate smash player) says “The Smash tournament was a lot of fun as it provided opportunities for both casual and skillful players to compete in a fun inviting environment.” As Joshua mentioned, there were all sorts of skilled smash players and also people just looking to have fun. In another interview, with Jared Rivera (winner of the tournament), The Cougar Claw asked about his experience in the Smash tournament, he said it “Was a definable, pleasant experience playing against different people with different play styles.” If you have ever played Super Smash Bros. at home it is not the same experience as when you play in front of a live crowd because one move can either make or break the adrenaline rush, momentum, drive, and the will to prove you are the best! Definitely a tournament worth experiencing, some even say when you are up there the agitation really starts to kick in and then your hands get weak and your fingers, in a word, get harder to maneuver around the controller which can be a problem for many. There will be another tournament coming soon sometime in April so come join because it’s a place to showcase your skills.

This is so interesting for students at this age. Super Smash Bros is a very popular game and it is good that we are writing about things that people are interested in.
