The Business of Youtube
March 21, 2016
Everyone knows what youtube is and guaranteed everyone has seen a video from youtube. Youtube is a business that people live off, good examples; pewdiepie, HolaSoyGerman, Smosh, elrubiusOmg, and many other youtubers. All these are the biggest names on youtube and are people known worldwide. This is such a huge business that it has affected every generation from young to old. Though the biggest demographic is 18-34 year old men and women. Woman spend most of their time on youtube watching cosmetic and accessories videos, and gaming. While Men have a big number of viewers, who mostly watch sports, and gaming.
Although they don’t make money based on how many subscribers they have. Or how many people watch the videos they post. The whole business runs on adds, sponsors, deals, partnerships, and showing off products. This is an example, If a youtube has gotten 10 million views but no one clicked on the add, making no money. This is also why people can’t measure how much they make. Some days they make more money while other days they don’t.
It’s reasonable to say that for every 25 views a youtuber makes $1. For example if a youtuber gets 50,000 views that means the youtube made approximately $2,00. This is also assuming clicked on .
All this sounds amazing, making a videos and getting paid for it. The first steps to even reaching the fame of a youtube is you have to grow a fanbase. There are many types of way of doing this, from just being funny person to targeting one specific demographic. also the odds of getting seen is not likely since about 300 hours of youtube are uploading every minute, as of 2014. Some youtubers have explained how they spend up to 10-14 hours every day making videos. the video could take 20 minutes to make but hours to render and to edit. And that’s even harder if it’s not one video per day.
That being said, if a person works hard towards it. That person can accomplish many tasks and possibly succeed, but even then the chances are not in anyone’s favors. People that try will have to get lucky and get that one viral video that could change that person’s life. Others options are just taking it slowly and slowly growing while marketing and networking with other youtubers in your same demographic.
