Black Lives Matter is not a moment, but a movement. The Black Lives Matter movement has sparked controversy in recent months. Founded by Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza., Black Lives Matter was created in 2012 after Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman was acquitted for his crime, and dead 17-year old Trayvon was posthumously placed on trial for his own murder.
In July 22, 2016 200-500 people protested the death of Alton sterling by peacefully walking through the streets of Seattle. They were chanting “thank you police,” for protecting them while they protested. Though not all their protest has gone by peacefully.
A protest in Minnesota turned violent after the two more black deaths by police officers. and the protestors started rioting and two police officers were injured. One by a bottle and other by a firework. The police did riot control and threw smokes to try and stop the protest.
