FCCLA

Brandy Yuill

The FCCLA, a district wide organization, focuses on helping our students here at Kearns High to be more future and career ready. The FCCLA Creed says, “We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. We face the future with warm courage and high hope.” This program helps students see their full potential as the future generations, and it allows them to gain the help they need to be successful in the coming years
FCCLA has a national membership of 160,000 young men and women in nearly 5,400 chapters. There are 47 states associated with this program. Some include: Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Since its founding in 1945, FCCLA has involved more than nine million youth over the years. Former members are eligible to become members of the Alumni & Associates program.
The FCCLA Program has 8 purposes by which they stand. Some these include the following: provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life, strengthening the function of the family as a basic unit of society, encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community, encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony, promote greater understanding between youth and adults, and provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities. These purposes outline the importance of the FCCLA Program and what they focus on in helping our youth become the future leaders of America.
