Kearns- On August 24, 2019, a 17-year-old girl named Kaylissa O’Leary, a senior at Copper Hills died from a gunshot wound. The accident happened in Taylorsville around 10 p.m. It’s not clear if she accidentally shot herself, or if foul play was involved. When O’Leary was shot many heard the gunshots and fled the residence when cops arrived; only a couple people remained at the scene.

The people that remained at the scene spoke to the police and said they didn’t see anything. Others said it was an accident, but police believe that party goers didn’t want to say anything because they’re afraid to speak up or were trying to cover up for someone.

Police also found it suspicious how her car went missing but police now have an ongoing investigation to see if it was an accident. As many friends and family were shocked over her death, during an interview the cougar claw got the chance to interview one of her friends, Jocelyn Davis replied. “Everyone loved her, she knew how to play around, and cheer people up even make them laugh. Everyone that she came in contact with had much love for her because of how amazing and caring of a person she was. I will miss everything about her, especially her laugh, including her goofiness. She will forever be missed.”

O’Leary was only 17 years old about to turn 18 on September 4th, 2019. She didn’t have the chance to celebrate her 18th birthday with her loved ones. Many send prayers to Kaylissa O’Leary and her family members. Some students didn’t find out about her death till Monday when teachers announced that one of their classmates had passed away during the weekend students were shocked to hear about the death of O’Leary. It was truly a tragedy what happened to O’Leary whether it was an accident or foul play she was a part of this community and will be missed!
