Each week the team only has one practice, but they make the most of their time at practice. during the interview with Issac Cervantes he said, “We start by working on our short game and getting our minds right by sinking close puts. After this we work on chipping and then we move to the driving range to work on our medium to long game.” This simple but very effective workout gets the players ready for their upcoming tournaments. The players do a couple of workouts a week outside of practice by hitting the weight room to get their body’s right. They do the same workouts they do at practice for muscle memory. The practice is held at a nearby golf course one day a week. There are only 4 players on the team, but they work hard and are determined to do well in their tournaments.
The Cougar Claw asked Issac what he thought was the hardest part of golfing is he said. “I think the hardest part of golf is the mental aspect because golf is not about your strength and athleticism, it is a game of keeping your cool and being disciplined.” This is what makes golf such an interesting sport because it is one of the only sports where physical attributes don’t matter.
