The Kearns high girls soccer team is in the top 10 in the state. Mrs. Robinson, the girls soccer coach, is making sure her girls from Kearns high school are ready for life. She is ready to set her girls for life even out of high school. Either if they go to college or do what they want to do. She makes sure her girls will always be successful. Robinson said “Life is beyond soccer.” Grades will get them farther.
Ms. Robinson is not only a teacher, she is also a mother, wife, and athlete detector. She does everything a coach can do for their athletics. She teaches her students then turns into a coach. It’s a lot at once. There is an average to it because she knows what they are doing and who they are with. “I put quite a bit of pressure on them, just because I know their potential,” Ms. Robinson says. Robinson always makes sure her girls are ready for their game not just physically but mentally. She always makes sure herself and her girl’s mindset are set right. If they go out there with a bad mindset they are going to play bad. They won’t believe in themselves. If one teammate has a bad mindset then everyone else does too. Robison has to make sure to give a talk before every game. This is also how she connects with her girls. She gets on that personal level with them. Makes them feel like they all like a big happy family. They are her daughters. They are big sisters to her kids. Also that not everything is about soccer, grades matter just as much. Even if they go play soccer in college. “They are college athletes so there is that student athlete part,” Coach said.
Sometimes being a coach is challenging. It’s even harder when you have to be multiple things at the same time. Another reason is, if any time the girls don’t perform the way they can then she puts more pressure on herself. The challenging part for Robinson is what she needs to do to help those girls to get there. You can go up to Ms. Robinson if you have any more questions. She is an amazing coach.
