Utah will soon have a new opportunity to fly high with nonstop flights via Hawaii airlines. What is the reason behind this excellent opportunity to paradise? The Cougar Claw had the opportunity to speak to Nate Lavin who is the Air Service Development Manager at the Salt Lake City Airport. He has been part of the team for four years now. He has been on the project to have Hawaiian Airlines provide nonstop services to Utah since he first started!
However, when he was asked why it was being offered, he stated, “All the airlines want to be able to grow, for example, Hawaiian airlines supply more than just trips to Hawaii which is trying to grow to Utah.
All airlines want to be what Lavin stated in his interview, “Watch each other very closely.” Furthermore, watching each other is to see what they can be able to provide better services from cheaper flights to nonstop flights. An example of this is how Salt Lake City Airport was able to add Airlines like Spirit which have cheap flights and another one is Air Canada. Nonetheless, why Hawaiian Airline decided to be able to bring the golden ticket to Utah was because Utah was the best next opportunity they had due to Salt Lake City being the highest unserved community.
The benefit that will come from it won’t just be to Utah but also to Hawaii because of the education connection of Brigham Young University in Hawaii. Including the opportunity, it will bring to families and friends that live between these two places. Including a little more competition to the other airlines. It was the best next opportunity because Lavin stated in his interview, “About 600 people traveling to Hawaii and another 600 people coming to Utah every day. So, this is where you can see that benefit.”
When Lavin was asked how the community feels about this new opportunity that will be there for them, he said, “The community is very thrilled, they are ready for his big benefit.” It will be able to bring in a particularly good economy, Lavin stated in his interview, “New flights are always good economically, including being able to see more of what Utah has to offer.”
