Who is Jamesthemormon?

James Curran, otherwise known as Jamesthemormon is a faith based rap sensation. He has an international background, growing up overseas in China, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. James studied at Brigham Young University, and later served as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After his 24 months of service, he came back to Utah, where he started to post comical videos, as well as singing videos on YouTube.

He later released his Debut Album “I’m Not a Rapper”, which went to number one on the Hip-Hop/Rap Chart. James was gaining popularity, and not just from the LDS Community. This huge fanbase lead to single’s “Motivation” and “Treasure” being released. Most recently he released a song called “Tellin You Y”, for the BYU Football Team.

James collaborates with other local artists like, David Archuleta (Workin’), Jay Warren (Treasure), Junior Maile (Motivation), and a new artist recently featured on American Idol, Jen Blosil.

James promotes positivity without vulgarity. “My goal is that people will associate me with the Church and it will open a door.” said James. “That dude is rapping and I like it, and he’s Mormon… Wait, and he’s Black?”  Although James is known for his rapping, he doesn’t call himself a rapper. He goes on to say “Rapping is just something I like to do, but I’m not a rapper”.

“There will never be another moment when people don’t know I’m a Mormon.”

I am Jamesthemormon.
