Trump’s Road to Presidency

Hannah Berry, Staff writer

The election was a long road that not only the candidates had to walk down, but so too did the people of the United States. The election took place on Nov. 8, with a score of 218 to 276, Trump won.
The stress that came along with this election was too much to handle for many of the voters. A study by The American Psychological Association showed that voters were extremely stressed during the run for presidency. The day of the election was emotional. All the nation could do was sit back and watch as the future of the country was made.
The Cougar Claw spoke to Amanda Hurd, a debate and English teacher at Kearns the morning of the election. When asked what her hopes were for the future of the United States, she stated, “I hope our country can heal from the hate and divide the election has brought, and that we can work together.”
After a long night of close numbers, the country learned that Donald Trump would be leading the country. He leads in both popular vote and electoral votes. But what really matters are the statistics of the votes. With predictions of the votes, people expected that Mr. Trump wouldn’t do well with Latino voters. However, he did better than Mitt Romney did in 2012. Predictions also stated that he would have a very large gender gap in his votes. However, his votes showed that they were very close.
After the long road we traveled down the country have finally elected our new president. Donald Trump will be our leader for the next four years.
