The school musical in a nutshell for those who could not attend, was a success The musical is called “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. Millie (played by Alexis Mendoza) is obsessed with being a “modern woman.” She decides to change her appearance, and to marry rich. Her goal is to marry her boss, Trevor Graydon (played by Chandler Paskett), but ends up running into a man named Jimmy Smith (played by Dallin Tippets). She goes through the struggle of whether to be modern and marry for money, or for love. It’s an intense development that involves love, hidden plot twists, and even touches on white slavery.
The Cougar Claw interviewed Chandler Paskett about his experiences being in Plays and Musicals. “ I have been in drama since seventh grade and I enjoy it so much! I love that I am able to portray different characters while being in stage. There is a little bit of me in every character I play.”
He goes on to say “Being part of a production is a lot of time and commitment, We have rehearsals every day after school until five, nine on tech week. We memorize our lines on our own time. So I go to school, rehearsal, to work, and then finally home around 10:30! Sometimes it may be intense, but I love it!”
For him singing is more difficult, especially in this musical. He sings a loud and prominent vibrato, which he has never done before. He practices while driving to work, to keep improving his skills! The show was at Kearns Highs auditorium November 16th, 17th, and 18th at seven o’clock. This is a show one doesn’t want to miss!
