“Stand up… Take your mark… Beep” Kimerly Biesinger on the Kearns High School swim team is Athlete of the Month for November. She is a junior at Kearns High School. Kimerly’s main stroke is 100 backstroke. Her last time was 103.26. She is hoping to go to state, cut time and defend the state champion title in the medley relay. Kimerly has swum the 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 freestyle, and the 200 IM. She actually has swum every event.
The swim team coach, Coach Horne, has been coaching Kimerly for four years. He says that she puts in a lot of effort. She is one of the hardest working athletes on the team. She is also a 4.0 student. He also says, she is on track to be in the running for valedictorian. What advice does Coach Horne have for other athletes on the team? “Work hard and stay positive. Enjoying your teammates’ dedication is important.”
Kimerly has been swimming for eight years. She keeps up with work and manages to be at practice on time by not procrastinating. How much effort does she put in and why? She says, “It all depends on the day.” She tries to put in 100%. Even though it’s hard sometimes. She wants to be able to achieve goals and improve. Kimerly wants to go to college and work towards being a doctor after high school. How does she keep a 4.0 GPA? She says, she makes everything a priority. Kimerly’s advice for younger athletes is, “Always work hard even on the days you don’t want to work hard. These are the most important days to work hard.” What does a younger athlete think of Kimerly? Lily Plaudis is a sophomore at Kearns High School. Lily says that “Kimerly is amazing, obviously.” She is a really hard worker in her schooling and swimming. She supports her team and is kind to everyone on the team. “She inspires me because she is able to take so many hard classes and get good grades. She manages to stay on the team,” Said Lily.
