Dune, a sci-fi film, came out in October in the US. The story is based on the book Dune by Frank Herbert, which was published in 1965. The movie centers around the first half of the book, while there is a sequel planned to cover the next part. The sequel will most likely come out exclusively in theaters in 2023.
The film was directed by Denis Villeneuve, the cast includes Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides, Jason Mamoa as Duncan Idaho, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgård as Vladimir Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, and Zendaya as Chani. The music was composed by Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean), and the highly acclaimed cinematography was done by Greig Fraser (Rogue One).
A summary from IMDb states, “Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive.”
Dune was rated 8.2/10 on IMDb, got 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 85% of Google users liked it. And it has earned more than $300 million at the box office worldwide.
Overall, Dune was a great movie. It had beautiful cinematography and amazing special effects, despite most of it being in the desert. The music scores fit the scenes very well and they bring you into the world of the film. I also think the plot was very interesting, and I can’t wait to see the next movie. You can see it on HBO Max and in theaters.
