Cougars Triumph over the Grizzlies

The Kearns High Varsity football team marched into Garrison Field on September 10th, to take on Copper Hills. The Cougars are coming into this game with a great attitude, after winning the first three games, while Copper Hills struggle to find a win. Kearns was able to get an early touchdown. Sione Finau goes to the outside and into the end zone, followed by the extra point, making it 7-0. Graden Luckart was able to connect with Shay Reid, who was able to get the touchdown. Kearns would end the first quarter with a 14-0 lead over the Grizzlies.

Half way through the second quarter, Bailey Floyd found Graden Luckart completely alone in the end zone, making it 21-0 for the Cougars. With 40 seconds left, Graden Luckart got his second touchdown of the night, ending the second quarter 28-0.

Sam Fetzer would make an amazing 82 yard run, getting passed the Copper Hills players, putting the Cougars ahead 35-0, 7 minutes into the third quarter. Another impressive play from the Cougars would get Sese Felilia a touchdown late on in the third. Not much action in the fourth quarter would seal the deal for the Kearns Cougars, the final score being 42-0.

A jubilant Cougars team would celebrate at Garrison Field after the televised match came to a conclusion, as they get ready for region play. With 4 wins and 0 loses, Coach Matt Rickards had nothing but praise for his team. “This is probably one of the most complete games we have played in a long time. Effort level was constant throughout. It’s great to have some success. It’s great to be 4-0. However, I’ll let them have fun and celebrate tonight, but when we get back to work, it’s 0-0. We start region next week,” stated Rickards.
